Description

Client will migrate File Share storage from a NETAPP NAS on-prem solution in multiple data centers to Cloud Based Storage, primarily in AWS. Current storage is mapped or mounted as CIFS and NFS, where most windows drive and user access is DFS.

The Cloud Data Migration Specialist is expected to coordinate and migrate shares/volumes to AWS as appropriate per use case to S3, EFX, EBS/EFS, etc in collaboration with multiple application teams and engineers.

 This role will evaluate NAS volumes used by applications and perform information collection tasks and analysis, as well as the data migration (including change management and collaboration/approval of impacted teams at Client).

Key Objectives:

  • Conduct Sessions with project team to ensure grasp of strategy, data classification, tools and outcomes of each migration
  • Assist application developers to evaluate and assess code or access modifications repointing to the new target in AWS
  • Perform data restructuring, offloading and/or migration activities as needed
  • Initiate transactions (Service Requests and/or Change Requests) in ServiceNow and track to completion
  • Attend Scrum sessions and provide updates on 2 week Sprints for duration of clean-up and migration activity for all NAS

Competencies/Skills Needed:

  • Data Analysis (e.g., understanding data classifications, such as PII and, Restricted), Computer Science, Strong knowledge of tools, such as windows explorer, Sharepoint, robocopy, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of assignment of file structure on Windows and Linux OS
  • AWS architecture and development expertise required to facilitate target assessment and migration of data volumes/shares to AWS
  • Understand access, connectivity and firewall in order to perform all activities end-to-end in the data migration and “production” validation of the on the target
  • Good communication and relationship management skills and experience working in cross functional teams; conduct interviews with business, administrative and technical resources for data collection
