COBOL Architect
Location: Albany, NY (Day 1 Onsite)

Description
Systems Architect providing design, coding, and performance tuning services in support of multiple large scale, high visibility applications.
Duties
Responsible for expert analysis, support, development, reengineering, and implementation of multiple business applications. Support is required for specific programming languages (COBOL, SQL, and Java), for specific database management systems (DB2 z/OS, DB2 LUW, IDMS, SQL Server), and using specific technologies (MQ Series, CICS, Sort, JCL, VSAM, Unix scripting, DBI performance tools, ERwin, TSO/ISPF, Data Studio, z/OS, AIX, IBM Data Replication).
Provide performance analysis and tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, benchmark design.
Implement backup and recovery strategies, and phased implementation/conversion planning for new and converted applications.
Design methodologies for data synchronization from operational data stores to a data warehouse across multiple database platforms and varied DBMS'.
Planning, interfacing, and usage between application databases, data warehouse, Cognos, Identity Insight, DataStage, Finalist, and HCL Commerce (formerly IBM Commerce).
Act as liaison between Data Management, business customers, and application development staff to ensure that recommended performance considerations are included in reviews, designs, development, and implementation of applications.
Create cost effective and timely solutions to strategic business requirements utilizing database structures, application methodologies, and coding techniques.
Serve as a technical subject matter expert on agency applications.

Experience (12+ Years)
Makes high-level design choices and dictates technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms. Designs multi-leveled architecture or component interactions of a large scale software system.

84 months of experience with a Government Taxation organization, which includes system design, development, maintenance and end user support of Tax & Revenue Accounting Systems.
84 months of experience in designing DB2 or IDMS database structures for enterprise taxation or revenue collections systems.
84 months of experience with IBM DataStage.
84 months of experience with IBM DB2 for z/OS and IBM DB2 for LUW working with enterprise databases and using XQuery.
84 months of experience with Websphere Process Server application design incorporating JMS trigger queues, XML business objects, multi-platform services and DB2/XML databases.
84 months of experience with IDMS and DMLO in a mainframe environment.
84 months of experience with COBOL programming in an IBM Mainframe Environment utilizing TSO and MVS JCL.
84 months of experience with IBM MQ Series.
84 months of experience with CICS and APS (Application Productivity System) in a mainframe environment.
84 months of experience with Application performance analysis and tuning.
