Description

Identifies factors affecting project design as instructed in design review meetings, and by using information provided by the customer and under direction from the Engineering Manager.

- Uses knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, etc., in developing designs and confers with other departments as necessary to ensure integrity and manufacturability.

- Prepares drawings and is responsible for resolving associated mechanical and fabrication problems.

- Participates in designing special modifications to existing parts.

- Creates and edits drawings using current AutoCAD and Inventor software.

- Forwards drawings to Engineering Manager for preliminary review and approval and makes changes and corrections as needed before being sent to customer for approval.

- Creates and updates bill of materials as drawings are developed.

- Ensures accuracy of work by checking dimensions, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and of various parts to the entire project.

- Understands established standards, follows them, and suggests improvements when possible.

- Notifies the appropriate personnel when other activities are ready to be performed during the design process (material updates, design checks, obtaining load calculation certifications, etc.).

- Forwards final checked drawings to Engineer Manager.

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

HS diploma or GED required. Two-year Associates degree preferred. 2 to 4 years of experience required. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

AutoCAD experience required.
