Prioritized Must-Have Skills for the Construction Manager:

#1. Must have at least 10 years' experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.

#2. Must have High School Diploma or GED and some college course work required.

#3. Must have the ability to oversee Mechanical Inspector, Instrumentation & Electrical Inspector (I&E), Site Safety Manager, Field Project Controls Specialist, and Material Coordinators.

#4. Must have HSE Certification.

 

Responsibilities of the Construction Manager: 

This is a hands-on, full-time position with day-to-day duties, including overseeing jobsite, coordinating work with subcontractors and home office, keeping reporting up to date, tracking project's progress metrics, ensuring documentation completion, coordinating, and hosting meetings, and monitoring safe work practices.

  • Ensures safety is the top priority while setting job site objectives and ensuring the team is fully equipped to complete projects on time.
  • Oversees Mechanical Inspector, Instrumentation & Electrical Inspector (I&E), Site Safety Manager, Field Project Controls Specialist, and Material Coordinator.
  • Ability to provide timely information and updates to clients and contractors.
  • Capability to lead site walks and provides follow-up on progress as needed.
  • Schedules daily call with Project Manager providing progress and status reports, as well as planning and hosting meetings as necessary.
  • Provides field verification, RFIs/FDs, and handle forecasting for jobs.
  • Ensures all reports are completed on time and updates tracking spreadsheets daily for progress.
  • Make certain yellow offs are complete.
  • Confirms schedule is updated.

 

 Requirements of the Construction Manager: 

  • High School Diploma or GED and some college course work required.
  • Associate, Bachelor’s, trade or technical school preferred.
  • HSE Certification preferred.
  • 10 years’ experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
  • Willingness to lead, take charge, offer opinions, and listen to feedback.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as other software required to execute daily tasks.
  • Ability to independently make decisions and direct work for projects and daily workflow.
