VSP is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join our team and play a crucial role in the Data Migration project for the Law Enforcement Administration Management System (LEAMS) with the Virginia State Police. As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for assessing complex data systems and programs, supporting ad-hoc and standing management or customer requests related to data migration.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand data needs and objectives.
  • Extract, clean, and transform data from diverse sources for analysis.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Examine data quality, applications, and functions to ensure accurate migration.
  • Produce output and sustain operation of data migration processes.
  • Research new data sources and analytical tools for improved migration strategies.
  • Contribute to new product development and enhancements in data delivery and presentation.
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Generate visualizations and reports for stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Collaborate with the LEAMS team to perform a proper audit of active files during the migration.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst or related role.
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages and databases (SQL, etc.).
  • Proficient in programming languages (Python, R, etc.) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science).
