Data Analyst

Day to Day Responsibilities/typical day look like: 
•Functional and Data requirements - start with business requirements – meeting with stakeholders and understanding needs – transformed into functional and data requirements.
o50% of their time is on the data side
oNeed to understand what data is being sourced by which applications – where is the data coming from – how can we pull data and what kind of data do we need to pull in
oBA’s do data mapping as well
oThen move requirements to the development team
oBA/Data analyst with strong SQL knowledge and if they have python that would be a huge plus
oWould be fine with a data engineer who has willingness to do BA work
oMost likely will onboard a strong BA with strong SQL skills

Would be open to a data engineer with willingness to do BA work – but probably less likely
?Strong SQL and Python
?No ETL or creating dashboards but knowledge of how do we onboard data – once we create requirements in terms of how we onboard data then that will go to the developers

Additional notes on two profiles:
1.BA with strong SQL/preferred python (High intermediate to senior SQL skills- working with multiple data sources, the grouping, how the different functions work, understanding views, can understand being part of a database management team)
2.OR data engineer with strong SQL and python or has BA background/willingness to do the BA work. (More technical than data mapping but less technical than creating database/structure but can be done as needed).  Onboarding data onto ECE applications from the producers.

What are the top 3 MUST HAVE technologies or Required experience for the position?
•3+ years of Business Analyst experience
•Strong SQL knowledge + experience – working with complex select queries, pulling data from multiple sources, working with different joins (outer, inner) – understanding views.
•Financial industry knowledge- payments industry. Most of the compliance AML/sanctions-more than 60% of the time is some type of a transactions- security, payments, etc.
•Understand what data is being sourced by which applications; understanding where is the data coming from, how can we pull data and what kind of data do we need to pull in
•Can work independently, strong communication

Data/Business Analyst
Work with the business stakeholders to determine both functional and data requirements
Collect business data from multiple sources
Write simple to complex queries or data transformation scripts using SQL and Python
Use large data sets to define KPIs and generate reports
Help maintain data frameworks
Assist with process improvement

Required Skills:
Bachelor's Degree
5+ years of experience in FinTech, specifically working with Payments (Swift - MT, MX messages, ACH - NACHA formats), Securities messages
Nice to have:  Experience/Exposure to Financial Crimes Compliance - such as AML, Alert Investigations, Knowledge with Actimize or any other AML products
