Develop and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure the integrity, availability, and security of organizational data.
Define data governance roles and responsibilities and establish accountability across departments and stakeholders.
Collaborate with business units to identify critical data elements, establish data ownership, and define data quality standards and metrics.
Design and implement data classification schemes and access controls to protect sensitive and confidential information.
Establish data stewardship programs and workflows to facilitate data governance activities, including data profiling, cleansing, and remediation.
Conduct data risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate data-related risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).
Develop data governance training programs and materials to educate employees on data governance principles, policies, and procedures.
Monitor and evaluate data governance processes and controls to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
Collaborate with IT teams to implement data governance tools and technologies to support data management activities, such as data lineage, metadata management, and data cataloging.
Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in data governance and data management.
Requirements:
Proven experience in data governance, data management, or related fields.
Strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to data protection and privacy.
Experience developing and implementing data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
Knowledge of data management tools and technologies, such as data catalogs, metadata management tools, and data quality tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
Data governance certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, Certified Information Management Professional) are a plus.
