Experienced DB2 z/OS SR Database Administrator to work on a government application that requires a timely delivery within a tight schedule. Candidate should have strong DB2 experience in designing and creating database objects such as tables, views, indexes and replication subscriptions. The DBA will support multiple Development, QA and production environments throughout the SDLC cycle.

Daily activities include:

• Works on multiple projects as a project leader, or sometimes as a project advisor
• Understands the principles, theories, practices and techniques of project management.
• Providing assistance in the development of the conceptual and logical database design
• Designing the physical data model
• Developing and maintaining naming standards for RDBMS objects such as tablespaces, tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures
• Defining and creating the RDBMS objects
• Assisting application analysts in functional prototyping
• Carrying out performance prototyping
• Developing/scheduling batch jobs for database utilities
• Developing backup/recovery procedures for application tables
• Supporting application programmers in the design and testing of applications
• Participating in the methodology design reviews
• Providing technical assistance to other team members
• Granting of appropriate authority to database objects
• Reviewing and approving requested table changes for production
• Assisting in product installation and defining initial installation options
• Providing functional guidance to the system/application programmers and operations
• Providing input to the organization's capacity planning function
• Monitoring and tuning the database systems
• Developing and implementing database administration policies and procedures
• Evaluating and testing database related software and tools
• Supporting databases ( DB2 z/OS, Oracle) development, QA, and production subsystems
• Support after hour production installs
• Setup or subscriptions for IBM CDC and Qrep along with monitoring of replication
• Documentation of database related activities and strong team collaboration
• Working knowledge for Oracle preferred but not required
• Ability to solve database related problems and collaborate effectively with other IT disciplines
• Possess multi-tasking skills and the ability to juggle projects, priorities, and workload on daily basis
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness/desire to provide mentorship to IT personnel


Candidate Requirements

  • Ideal candidate has 5 to 10 years' experience in DB2 z/OS databases along with Power Designer data modeling skills.
  • Candidate should have strong experience in designing and creating database objects such as tables, views, indexes and IBM CDC and Qrep replication setup.
  • The candidate will provide the following support in DB2 z/OS (Database administration, production support, quality assurance, development) within OLTP and/or OLAP environments is required.
  • The candidate must support Oncall schedule 7/24 team rotation supporting DB2 z/OS and limited Oracle support.

Education

Any Graduate
