Responsibilities
Provision MySQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations
Perform database schema changes, patches, and upgrades as required.
Troubleshooting and resolving database issues, such as slow queries, locking conflicts, and data inconsistencies
Analyze and optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, partitioning, and other methods.
Creating and maintaining robust database backups and recovery plans to ensure data protection and continuity
Implementing security measures, including role-based access controls, encryption, and authentication mechanisms, to safeguard sensitive data
Staying updated with the latest MySQL developments and best practices to continually improve database infrastructure performance
Create and maintain documentation for database systems and processes.
Skills and Qualifications
Strong proficiency in MySQL database management
Decent experience with recent versions of MySQL
Understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
Experience with replication configuration in MySQL
Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL
Knowledge of MySQL features, such as its event scheduler
Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.
Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
Bachelor's degree
