Job Responsibilities:

  • Modeling and surfacing in NX to create integrated 3-D surfaces and solids to support seating property builds and updates.
  • NX Drawings to create drawings to support parts fabrication.
  • Responsible to release math and drawings on time to meet physical build plan for major program milestones.
  • Monitor property build progress through Design Center Fabrication shops and address issues as they arise.
  • Facilitate mock-ups and rapid prototype parts.
  • Used to fabricate physical seating properties and interface with shop fabrication areas.
  • Used for virtual reality reviews.
  • Used to represent the gold source 3-D integrated solution that accommodates the latest styling surfaces.
  • Prepare sketches of ideas, detailed drawings, illustrations, artwork, or blueprints, using drafting instruments, paints and brushes, or computer-aided design equipment.
  • Modify and refine designs, using working models, to conform with customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends.
  • Coordinate the look and function of product lines.
  • Confer with engineering, marketing, production, or sales departments, or with customers, to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.
  • Read publications, attend showings, and study competing products and design styles and motifs to obtain perspective and generate design concepts.
  • Design graphic material for use as illustration or advertising on manufactured materials and packaging or containers. 

 

Skills:

  • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills and problem solving ability.
  • Basic ability to utilize various forms of media, including print, electronic and film.
  • Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • Previous experience using the computer to create layouts and generate new images.
  • Experience with Adobe imaging software (i.e., Illustrator, Photoshop), computer aided design (CAD) software and graphics software.
  • Demonstrated high level NX CAD capability - modeling and drafting (Top Skill).
  • Understanding principles of automotive design (Top Skill).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (Top Skill).
  • Familiarity with the construction and use of physical seating properties early in vehicle development.
  • Familiarity with the General Arrangement, Oscar occupant, eye ellipse, and typical sections.
  • Familiarity with the BlueBook and SAE dimensions and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.
  • Ability to integrate complex systems and balance multiple inputs.
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to lead cross functional meetings, escalate issues, and drive decisions.
  • Familiarity with general automotive manufacturing processes.
  • Skilled in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.  Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial design, architecture or engineering. Masters degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years experience required.
