Job Summary:  The Epic System Analyst 2 is an intermediate analyst role responsible for the planning, design, testing, implementation, and ongoing optimization and support of clinical, revenue cycle, or access applications. Working under moderate supervision, the role is accountable for identifying business needs, performing workflow assessments, determining functional requirements for system optimization, and resolving system application issues in coordination with other Epic application teams. The Epic System Analyst 2 must possess an in-depth knowledge of the applicable application functionality, be able to mentor other analysts in developing foundational application knowledge, and have detailed knowledge of the clinical, revenue cycle, or access workflows to be implemented and supported within the system.

 

Certification: Must be certified in Epic ECSA with at least two years of experience.


 

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Gather and analyze business requirements and lead the system design, build tasks, testing and implementation following standardized project management and change control processes.
  • Evaluate and perform discovery on project requests.
  • Identify high risk areas for projects and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Research operational workflows, lead the analysis and design of Epic workflows, and develop recommendations to improve the efficiency and utilization of system functionality.
  • Carry out work assignments of moderate complexity and contribute to team objectives and outcomes. Complete application tasks for ongoing system maintenance, including troubleshooting for application issue ticket resolution, and build, testing, and migration tasks associated with system upgrades.
  • Use independent judgment and problem solving under moderate supervision.
  • Respond to Epic configuration/build support questions and escalate application, technical, and workflow questions to Senior analysts when appropriate.
  • Provide supervision and oversight for change management and Data Courier build migration.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system build, business requirements, decisions, etc.
  • Provide on-call application support after hours on a rotating basis.
  • Research, organize, analyze, and synthesize data to support effective decision making within specified deadlines. 
  • Partner with application trainers to identify training needs and develop supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with application analysts and operational end-users and leaders to identify and resolve Epic related issues in a timely manner. Lead and present to workgroups, cross-functional project teams, process improvement and/or advisory committees as required.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication regarding changes to the application. Produce project documentation, including status reports to stakeholders.
  • Successfully balance competing requirements and needs within constraints of scope, time, budget and quality factors.
  • Manage projects and define and track deliverables to ensure completion.  Clearly assign responsibility for tasks and decisions, setting clear objectives, measuring and monitoring progress and results.
  • Mentor new analysts during onboarding.
  • Exhibit behaviors that support the organization’s service standards.
