GIS Architect

Job Description:-

As a GIS Data + Platform Solution Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing innovative Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions that integrate data and platform technologies to meet the organization's spatial data management needs. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders, understanding business requirements, and architecting scalable and efficient GIS solutions.

Solution Design:

o   Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand GIS requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

o   Design and architect GIS solutions that integrate geospatial data, platforms, and technologies to meet business objectives.

o   Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for GIS solutions, including architecture diagrams, data models, and system interfaces.

Data Management:

o   Develop strategies for the acquisition, storage, and management of geospatial data.

o   Implement data quality standards and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of GIS datasets.

o   Design and optimize spatial databases for efficient data retrieval and analysis.

Platform Integration:

o   Evaluate and select GIS platforms and technologies that align with business goals.

o   Integrate GIS solutions with existing enterprise systems, databases, and applications.

o   Ensure interoperability between GIS platforms and other IT systems within the organization.

Technical Leadership:

o   Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams working on GIS projects.

o   Stay abreast of emerging GIS trends, technologies, and best practices.

o   Conduct training sessions for internal teams to enhance GIS knowledge and skills.

Collaboration and Communication:

o   Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, data scientists, and business analysts.

o   Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.

o   Participate in client meetings to gather requirements and present GIS solutions.

Quality Assurance:

o   Implement testing processes to ensure the reliability and performance of GIS solutions.

o   Conduct regular reviews and audits of GIS data and platform implementations to identify and address issues.

Qualifications:

o   Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field.

o   Proven experience as a GIS Solution Architect or a similar role using ESRI Suite of Products - required

o   In-depth knowledge of GIS technologies, spatial databases, and geospatial data analysis.

o   Proficiency in GIS software and platforms such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and open-source GIS solutions.

o   Strong programming and scripting skills (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for GIS development.

o   Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and GIS cloud services.

o   Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

o   Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

o   Experience with Utilities required

Preferred Skills:

o   Experience with ESRI GIS web development and APIs.

o   Knowledge of geospatial data standards (e.g., OGC standards).

o   Familiarity with data visualization and mapping libraries.

o   Project management skills and experience leading GIS projects.
