Job Description:
We are seeking a highly efficient GIS Developer to maintain, enhance, and further develop our County's Geographic Information System (GIS). In this role, you will utilize computer-aided and automated cartographic mapping work, web-based GIS, and relational database management to support all staff within the County Office Building and designated locations.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Develop and implement new queries and automated scripts.
  • Perform complex spatial analysis and database queries, managing data layers and spatial data structures using GIS tools and relational databases.
  • Review project requirements, prioritize needs, establish project goals, devise timelines, and allocate project resources in collaboration with other staff members.
  • Research and resolve advanced GIS-related problems and concerns using techniques like aerial photo interpretation, cadastral and street map analysis, and field research.
  • Assist the public and County staff in identifying their mapping and geographic data needs.
  • Conduct advanced GIS analysis using mapping software and related tools.
  • Prepare custom maps for display using GIS mapping software and input/output devices.
  • Maintain and update multiple relational databases containing geographic and other relevant data sets across multiple servers.
  • Collect field data using GPS receivers and data loggers and post-process the results into the GIS.
  • Perform advanced processing of various information sources for inclusion in County geographic and database files and maps.
  • Develop recommendations and solutions for data input/output methodologies, processing techniques, and data transfer/storage schemes.
  • Recommend and implement methods, procedures, and applications for effective use of GIS technology in GIS data production and maintenance.
  • Assist in the development of requests for proposals and participate in vendor selection.
  • Contribute to the development of GIS standards, methodologies, and practices.
  • Generate management reports as needed.
