GIS Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

GIS Development: Design, develop, and implement GIS applications and tools to support various projects within the electric, gas, or telecommunications sectors.
System Integration: Integrate GIS solutions with other enterprise systems and databases to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability.
Data Management: Manage and maintain geospatial databases, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security.
Custom Solutions: Develop custom scripts and tools to automate GIS processes and improve efficiency.
Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for GIS applications and systems.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver tailored GIS solutions.
Data Models and APIs: Develop and implement data models, APIs, and data pipelines to support efficient data management and accessibility.
System Performance: Ensure system scalability, security, and performance to meet organizational requirements.
Standards and Best Practices: Develop and implement GIS standards and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, GIS, or a related field.
Experience: 7+ experience as a GIS Engineer in the electric, gas, or telecommunications industries.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in GIS software and experience with GIS software development kits (SDKs) and APIs.
Development Skills: Strong skills in GIS application development, including web and mobile GIS solutions. Proficient in programming languages like Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript.
Integration Skills: Experience with system integration and data interoperability.
Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications: GIS certification (e.g., GISP) or advanced degree preferred.
Advanced Skills: Experience with advanced data visualization tools and cloud-based GIS solutions.
System Administration: Experience with system administration and cloud computing skills, and version control systems like Git.
