Overview

The Infrastructure Technical Specialist (INTS) is a senior level resource with specialized knowledge and experience in specific technologies. The INTS has an overall knowledge of IT infrastructure and architecture that serves as a strong base for technical expertise in a specific product or program.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Collaborate with IT, County management and leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs with financially sound solutions.

Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records..

Work with inter-agency organizations, state and local agencies, and associated organizations to design connectivity and security solutions.

Assist Network Architect in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery

Support and assist with architecture behind LANs, WANs, wireless networks, UPSs, and other related network hardware solutions

Interact and negotiate with vendors, contractors, and partner agencies to secure network products and services

Stay current on security trends that are applicable to securing the environment; including but not limited to patches and vulnerability assessments

Participate in managing all network security solutions and provide recommendation for necessary improvement

Perform network and security audits

Participate in training and seminars as it relates to necessary KSAs

Minimum Entrance Qualifications

Education and Experience
University degree in computer science or related fields and/or 5 - 7 years equivalent work experience.
Licenses or Certifications

Certifications in Cisco, VMware, or other relevant are beneficial, but not required.
 

Knowledge Of

COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES

Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.

Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.

Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of core technologies, including Cisco, Microsoft, FortiNET, and Meraki

Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

ANY GRADUATE
