Role
- Organizing, leading, and managing the project team/resources to deliver a successful project
- Representing GDOT IT interests in day-to-day engagement on activities/tasks

- Overseeing completion/acceptance of GDOT project activities/tasks and deliverables
- Completing project documentation as needed throughout a project
- Completing projects on-time and within budget, scope, and agency expectations
Responsibilities
- Ensures procured products are setup within Configuration Management, Contract Tracking, and
established as Configuration Items within ServiceNow
- Breaks down scope into RACI charts, work breakdown structures, activities, tasks, dependencies, etc. for
project management plans and scheduling
- Prepares/maintains project management plans and project schedules
- Conducts meetings and oversees work effort/quality produced by project team
- Obtains GDOT IT resource assignments and manages work tasks/schedules to completion/resolution
- Assists in providing external resources access to GDOT IT environments or required data
- Performs risk and issue management, proactively escalates as necessary
- Tracks and reports the status/progress of IT Projects, including costs and invoice payments; records
meeting minutes, action items, decisions, etc.
- Oversees system integration, data migration, data replication/archiving, or other activities engaging GDOT
IT resources
- Performs project change management and oversees coordination of system change management;
proposes alternative plans/recommendations to bring project tasks back on track; obtains quotes and
Develops Additional Scope Of Work/Contract Amendments As Required
- Ensures delivery of all required work items and deliverables, including system security plans or orderly
removal of GDOT users/data upon contract termination
- Ensures conformance of contractor/vendor with agreed requirements/specifications and any applicable
contract terms and conditions
- Ensures completion of all required user/configuration management acceptance testing/validation;
facilitates code check-ins
- Facilitates QA and user acceptance testing, performs acceptance management
- Obtains approvals for schedule changes, additional expenses, or scope changes
- Oversees installation, user onboarding, training, and rollout plans. Transitions systems to ongoing
support/maintenance.
- Ensures organization, storage, and retention of project records, documents, and system documentation
Work Terms And Conditions
8AM - 5PM 40 hrs. per week
client has specified number of days onsite vs remote, but local candidates (i.e. able to come in office) will be preferred over out of state candidates (i.e. remote worker). GDOT prefers to have candidates who have the capability to come into the office to interview and discuss a hybrid work schedule.
- The consultant will follow all applicable State of Georgia and GDOT policies, procedures, standards,
guidelines, and accepted best practices.
- The position end date is set for the end of the GDOT Fiscal Year. GDOT may exercise the option to renew
contracts in one-year increments. Several successful consultants have continued working for several years
with contract extensions. However, GDOT is under no obligation to extend contracts and may terminate
employment at any time.
- When teleworking or working remotely, consultant must have suitable internet connection and environment
to comply with GDOT telework policies.
- GDOT will reimburse authorized travel expense lodging and meals. GDOT will reimburse authorized travel
use of a personal vehicle. Any travel expenses to start work or relocate to Georgia or will not be
reimbursed. All travel expense reimbursement shall be in accordance with State Accounting Office Travel
Policy: https://sao.georgia.gov/state-travel-policy
- The Department has 13 holidays, which consultants are not allowed to work nor make up any time for
those holiday weeks without management's approval. Consultants are not to take extended leave during
their first year of service (e.g. greater than 1 week).
- Consultant must have cell phone which can be used for business calls.
- GDOT does not provide free parking. All routine commuting expenses are the responsibility of the
consultant.
Skills
Batchelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
IT application development Project Management with multiple projects from requirements to close-out phases, with a progression of responsibility.
Experience in new development, installation, and configuration on large IT application development projects with internal/external customers.
Experience in waterfall, hybrid, and Agile/Scrum based project methodologies.
Able to develop and maintain schedules in MS Project without any additional training.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or eligible to take exam.
Experience with cloud-based implementations
