Description: Our client is currently seeking a IT Systems Engineer for a 12 month + contract.
Role
The Systems Engineer is responsible for engineering and administering all on-premise and remote IT infrastructure technologies, services, and components. The Systems Engineer is also responsible for conducting technology orientations with internal IT personnel, system administration training, and tier 2 escalation incident and problem management. Infrastructure components include on-premise and cloud computing hardware and software, Storage Area Networking (SAN), Wide Area Networking (WAN), Local Area Networking (LAN), Active Directory (AD), backup and restore technologies and end user computer operating systems and build types. The Systems Engineer will also recommend tactics or technologies that increase system performance. The right candidate will provide great team member collaborations and customer experiences. The Systems Engineer reports directly to the Infrastructure Architect.
Responsibilities
- Directly support the execution of the IT Infrastructure strategy and roadmap
- Implement, enhance, and administer computer and networking systems, services, and components to achieve specific business or internal IT functional goals
- Support services in a remote/on-premise hybrid employee environment
- Prioritize and optimize Tier 2 incident and problem resolution with a focus on customer service
- Maintain secure identity and access management and data protection best practices in conjunction with the Director, Cybersecurity to enforce policies and uphold data integrity
- Collaborate directly with software and hardware vendors and service providers
- Support and maintain all infrastructure component technologies
- Train on and suggest enhancements to current IT Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and work instructions
- Act as change owner for infrastructure technology changes
- Manage incidents and problems within Tier 2 resolution Service Level Agreements (SLA)
- Provide clear and concise status updates on technology implementations and Tier 2 incidents and problems
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Windows Active Directory, Azure, Identity Management, and M365 applications
- Strong knowledge of vmware
- Strong knowledge of WAN, LAN, and SAN technology stacks
- Strong understanding of desktop, mobile, and web application architectures
- Proficient with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Proficient with Bash and/or Powershell script authoring
- Proficient with Mac and Linux operating systems
- Familiar with SonicWall, Zscaler, WDS, and InTune products
- Good communication skills
- ITIL change management experience
- Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Solid customer-centric behaviors and actions
- Solid understanding of ITIL incident, problem, and asset management
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative and high-performance environment
- Ability to operate effectively in fast paced environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related area
- 8+ years of information technology experience within an infrastructure function
- 3+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure management
- Bonus: Experience in Biotechnology or Life Science industry
- Preferred: MCSE, CompTIA Network, ITIL, CISSP or similar certification

- This role will be located in Philadelphia, PA and must be onsite 2 days per week minimum
