Teams main responsibility:
Next Edge. Specifically we own the TSI (Transaction Service Interface), which means we are responsible for enabling value added services to Client transactions.

Typical work day look like for this contractor:
Stand ups, backlog grooming, time spent collaborating with the team. 
This position will also spend a lot of time collaborating with my other Principal Engineer, and likely the Engineering team from DMP (who is funding the position).
The rest of the time would be spent in creating architectural documents, coding, POCs, and design work as necessary to meet the project objectives.

Overview:
In the Payment Networks organization, we are responsible for driving global commerce and enabling all transaction types that come through the Client network.
Our team is responsible for the customer experience, testing tools, and customer testing environment to ensure all systems are working as expected.

-As a software engineer at Client, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, development and delivery of software solutions.
-You will also define requirements for new applications and customizations, adhering to standards, processes and best practices.

About the Role:
- Work on complex enterprise-wide initiatives spanning multiple services/programs and drive resolution
- Work with business/product owners to architect and deliver on new services to introduce new products and bundles
- Drive the architectural design, including dependent services, service interactions, and policies
- Take ownership to improve the customer experience of an entire set of services/applications sold as products or bundled services
- Apply judgment and experience to balance trade-offs between competing interests
- Consult across teams and across organization lines to identify synergies and reuse opportunities
- Write recommendations for job promotions based on an unbiased view of one's accomplishments
- Conduct technical interviews for hiring engineering staff and raising the performance bar
- Identify and raise awareness of Silo-ed behaviors within the organization and teams
- Mentor and guide software engineers to improve engineering productivity, quality, and technology policy compliance

About You:
- Proficient in promoting and coaching teams on full stack development and facilitating end-to-end service ownership
- Has experience in leading and coaching teams to perform software planning and estimation for large scale complex programs
- Has strong business and customer knowledge that is used to drive decisions to meet Client business and technical strategy in delivery of products from the program
- Has skills to engage engineers across Technology organization to promote standard software patterns and reuse of common libraries and services
- Proficient in driving trade-off discussions to set the right development capacity based on value drivers (e.g., regulatory, security, new business, market parity, technical debt)
- Performance engineering experience to ensure applications are built to scale, run, and perform for varying demands
- Proficient in cost-effectively architecting systems to meet the scaling needs of different markets (e.g., on soil or localization)
- Strong Experienced in event driven systems (Apache Kafka, NATS, etc)
- Proficient in building highly scalable, highly available full-stack Java applications using modern Java EE frameworks.
- Good knowledge in C/C++ applications is a big plus.
- Has skills to succinctly articulate architecture patterns of complex systems, with business and technical implications, to executive and customer stakeholders
- Proficient in guiding teams on automation/configuration management, deployment strategy, and logging and monitoring practices for high availability
- Applies expertise of scalable and resilient architecture patterns and design to oversee the automation infrastructure, develop a strategic roadmap towards automation, and identify areas to improve upon scalability and sustainability
- Has experience in design and execution of automation across multiple business areas and provides guidance on best methods and tools.

Education:
- BS or MS degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
