Job Description:
The Lab Engineer is responsible for Racking and stacking of network equipment up to 50lbs.
This includes running/dressing cables preferably in a lab/data center environment.
The candidate must be able to work independently on projects. Able to work on ladders at a max height of 10' and have an experience with hand tools like Drill and Wrenches. Able to distinguish different cables and their uses (CAT5, COAX, USB, Serial). Basic Experience with Modem, Router, switch and Remote Access Configuration. Actively participate in issue troubleshooting. Clearly document the processes used. Ensure effective communications with peers and management.
Qualifications/Skills/Abilities: (Not necessary all needed but as many as possible)
· 3-5 years' experience in running/dressing cables, preferably in a lab/data center environment.
· Experience working with Equipment racks. Racking and stacking of network equipment
· Experience working with Windows/MS Office (Word, Excel required, Visio and PPT a plus)
· Experience configuring devices via terminal (CLI) or though browser
· Cable Plant experience (CMTS, DOCSIS, COAX)
· Networking background (Valid CCNA/CCNE, Network +)
· Provisioning and configuration experience working with Modems, Video devices
· Experience with Routers and Switches configuration
· Troubleshooting experience with Modem and video devices
· Knowledge of basic WiFi troubleshooting
· Experience with Air Magnet or handheld tools
· Knowledge with Linux basic commands/Bash scripting
· Experience with Basic MAC OSX
· Experience with Remote Access Configuration
· Must be able to work independently
· Experience with creating and maintaining documentation
