OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a skilled Lead Data Architect with extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining the data architecture and infrastructure of a specialized software product. The individual will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and software teams to ensure that data is collected, transformed, stored, and made accessible in a structured and efficient manner. We are especially interested in you if you have experience with large-scale data migration projects.

- Design and create the overall data architecture, including data models, databases, data warehouses, and data lakes, to meet the organization's needs.
- Plan and execute data migration projects when transitioning from legacy systems to new platforms or technologies.
- Develop data integration strategies to consolidate and unify data from various sources, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
- Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that define data structures and relationships.
- Establish data governance policies, standards, and best practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulations.
- Implement data security measures, including encryption, access controls, and authentication, to protect sensitive information.
- Monitor and optimize database and data warehouse performance to ensure data retrieval and processing are efficient.
- Manage metadata repositories and documentation to provide clear data lineage and context.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data analysts, and data scientists, to understand their data requirements and provide data solutions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their suitability for improving data management and analytics capabilities.
- Develop and implement a data strategy that aligns with the organization's business objectives and supports data-driven decision-making.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant industry experience; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least six (6) years' experience in data architecture, database design, and data management.
- Proficiency in data modeling tools like Redgate SQL Dependency Tracker.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, NoSQL databases, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with data governance, data security, and compliance regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud platforms, specifically Azure.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Works effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to adapt quickly to project changes.
- Comfortable seeking input from other team members.
- Ample experience with the following or similar technologies and platforms: SQL Server, Azure SQL, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Azure, Git-based Repositories, Redgate SQL Toolbelt, Azure DevOps, the SQL Language, various Data Lake platforms, and ETL.
