Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced-level Linux Systems Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse professionals.

As a seasoned Linux System Administrator at an advanced level, you will showcase your expertise through seamless execution in installing, configuring, and maintaining RHEL servers. This encompasses adept management of user accounts, meticulous permissions administration, and implementation of robust secure access controls. Your role will demand not only proficiency in shell scripting for automation but also a deep understanding of network configuration and troubleshooting.

Your skill set will extend to virtualization technologies, RHEL security features, and adept storage management. Mastery in utilizing RHEL package management tools, coupled with proficiency in performance monitoring and tuning, will be crucial. Your capabilities will extend to handling backup and disaster recovery processes, resolving intricate issues spanning hardware, software, and network domains.

Skills / Experience Required


 

  • Secret Clearance
  • 6 years professional IT experience
  • Proficient in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of RHEL servers and workstations
  • Experience in managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure secure and efficient user environment
  • Skilled in using shell scripting (bash, Perl, Python, etc.) to automate routine tasks and system maintenance
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware, including setup, configuration, and management of virtual environments
  • Competence in deploying and managing storage solutions in RHEL environments
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery processes and technologies relevant to RHEL systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues in RHEL environments, applying analytical skills to resolve hardware, software, and network problems
  • Familiarity with RHEL patching, updates, and configuration management
  • Good communication skills for collaboration with IT teams, end-users, and other stakeholders

Education / Certifications


 

  • Bachelor's degree (Strongly desired) in computer science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering degree or degree in Mathematics or Engineering
  • Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education for this position
  • DOD 8570.01 IAT II certification required to start (e.g, Security+)
  • DODM 8140.03 advanced level certification is required before government deadline (Advanced: CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP))
