Manage the database and ensure 100% availability.

Responsibilities
·      Requires good problem solving skills. 
·      Ability to debug & diagnose DBMS system and utility software 
·      Requires IMS Sysplex experience & datasharing expertise
·      Various types of IMS restarts (COLD/WARM/ERE).
·      Knowledge about IMS SYSGEN process - Defining/Adding Transactions and Programs to the IMS system.
·      Knowledge of IMS Controls Blocks (DBDs, PSBs, ACBs).
·      Knowledge of IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC) concepts and RECON datasets
·      Should be able to handle the annual Disaster Recovery (DR) exercise activities.
·      Sound knowledge about IMS Logging - OLDS; SLDS; WADS;RLDS
·      Command Codes: Concepts and usage of different command codes. Both Type 1 and Type 2 IMS commands and various IMS Utilities
·      Working knowledge of IMS Upgrades. 
·      Checkpoint - Restart: Difference between Basic and Symbolic Check pointing and corresponding Restart logic. 
·      Secondary Indexing concepts
·      Fast path database processing concept: Main Storage Databases (MSDBs) and Data Entry Databases (DEDBs)
·      Difference between DLI and BMP modes.
·      Different access methods: HDAM, HIDAM, PHDAM, PHIDAM etc...
·      Design, code and maintain DBMS system exits
·      Performance analysis & tuning for DBMS subsystems
·      IMS Monitoring Tool- Proficient- Required Monitoring tool
·      Proficient in JCL, TSO/SDSF/JES2/SYSVIEW/SMP/E
·      The ability to manage small groups, lead projects and coordinate multiple tasks under time and resource constraints
·      The ability to prioritize workloads effectively to meet changing business needs
·      Ability to project a professional image to both outsourced and potential clients
·      Overtime and weekend work occasionally required, some travel may be necessary
