JOB SUMMARY
- Analyzes the needs of the end user requirements and specs to develop user-oriented computer solutions that interface with existing systems. Provides technical skills for the IS Department, such as coding, designing, testing, implementing, researching and debugging computer programs.
- Coordinates all aspects of implementation and documents those changes.
- Plays a critical role in the implementation of all mainframe system automation initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plays a role in analyzing end user data needs and develops user-oriented solutions that interface with our existing systems.
- Designs systems, interface, programs and coordinates the review of these specifications into system code.
- Maintains and modifies programs, makes approved changes on at least one or more of the company’s systems.
- Provides documentation for required system coding design and changes as needed.
- Unit test and develops modifications and writes new programs when appropriate.
- Evaluates simple interrelationships between programs and systems to ensure all potential “bugs” in the process are addressed.
- Provides on-call support and problem resolution for mainframe system computer applications.
- Works closely with the Applications Programming Manager or assigned lead to ensure departments goals and objectives are achieved.
- Ensure duties are performed in adherence to all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations
- Comply with guidelines, policies, and directives outlined in the company handbook and department manuals
- Provide timely, courteous, and quality customer service to customers
- Clearly demonstrate commitment and participation to team goals and objectives
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
EXPERIENCE
- 7 to 10 years Mainframe COBOL, VSAM, CICS and or Assembler programming experience.
- Solid understanding of IBM’s ZOS Operating system and VSAM file structures.
- 5 to 8 years of work experience and programming knowledge of CSC’s (PMS) Policy Management System Series II system Is required.
- Technical leadership abilities including task and small project coordination
- Previous P&C insurance related experience.
