Job Title: Mainframe Lead developer

Duration: 6 Months contract to hire

Client: Conduent/State of MT

Major Responsibilities:

• Production support including resolving online and batch programs, JCL, and other operational problems and on-call responsibilities
• Research and respond to customer change requests and problem issues
• Using COBOL programming language and associated technologies, writes online and batch code, completes programming, and performs testing/debugging of MMIS and supported systems
• Develops and installs programs to support large scale mainframe applications
• Assist in systems analysis and designing solutions to system problems and enhancements
• Design, develop, and test modifications and enhancements to MMIS systems
• Designs, develops documents, tests, and debugs new and existing software systems and/or applications.
• Work with and mentor team of Mainframe Systems Development Specialists
• Participates in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design.
• Participates in software design meetings and analyzes user needs to determine technical requirements.
• Consults with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs.
• Creates technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements.
• Serves as technical expert on development projects.
• Creates/maintains documentation for software functionality; project planning; evaluations; budgeting, feedback, and improvements.
• Provides estimates, budgets, project flow, client updates, and meeting expectations.
• Manages user requirements; provides timely project updates.
• Analyzes codes to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed.
• All other duties as assigned 

Basic Qualifications for Consideration:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Information Technology
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications For Consideration: 

• 8+ years as a programmer/analyst using COBOL/COBOL II/CICS in a mainframe environment
• Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) claims processing experience
• VSAM, CICS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, IBM Utilities, File Master, VIEW, Endevor
• Team Management experience
• Healthcare experience
• Medicaid or claims processing experience
