Job Description:
We are looking for a Systems Programmer to join the Technology Reliability Engineering and Operations (TREO) IBM Z Mainframe team. This team is focused on reliably and securely managing the mainframe environment. With a focus on the operating system and ISV products and services, you will be an integral part of the broader technology team. We're looking for someone who will be responsible for maintaining the z/OS operating system and related products.

As a Systems Programmer, you will leverage your knowledge of the operating system to maintain vendor software and work cooperatively to keep the overall mainframe environment healthy. You will monitor, build alerting and automation, integrate with interrelated systems, and craft creative solutions to problems and obstacles. Troubleshooting, vendor engagement, planning, and escalation will be needed to uncover issues, Client root causes, and implement resolutions. Products and services cover vendors such as Broadcom, BMC, Rocket Software, and others.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the IBM Z Mainframe z/OS environment (SMS - Storage Management Subsystems, IBM Virtual Tape Library, Hitachi Storage / Disk, and Data Replication)
  • Securely support various upgrades, configure, and to maintain supported release levels
  • Perform root cause analysis
  • Continuously improve stability and reliability in the IBM Z Mainframe space
  • Provide technical expertise on Information Technology projects
  • Prepare and maintain necessary documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years systems programming, systems analysis, transaction server administration, or other directly related experience
  • Working knowledge of programming, database, and systems analysis and related applications
  • Requires strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with both management and staff employees
  • Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other related fields
