Position Summary:
Theoris Services is assisting their client in finding a Mechanical Engineer who can design ASME code stamped pressure vessels and rotating industrial machinery for a variety of industries including petrochemical, food, chemical and pharmaceutical applications.
The staff mechanical engineer supports on-site manufacturing, chemical engineering, and operations professionals in a dynamic work environment. Requires a strong foundation in engineering fundamentals including machine design, engineering analysis, and excellent communication skills. Experience working with industry codes or regulations with transferable experience is required.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for design and calculations of ASME code stamped pressure vessels under the supervision of senior engineering staff.
- Responsible for the design, calculations, and analyses of industrial rotating equipment under the supervision of senior engineering staff.
- Responsible for project documentation including but not limited to: Code calculations and design reports
- Fabrication and machining drawings
- Customer drawings
- Equipment and piping layouts
- General arrangement and assembly drawings
- Installation, operation, and maintenance manuals
- Develop conceptual designs for prototypes.
- Design of fixtures and tooling for large-scale manufacturing operations.
- Coordinate with cross functional stakeholders as required.
- Assumes additional related responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills:
- BSME degree with 3+ years of experience, or MSME with 1+ years of experience.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Must have strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Proficiency with the following software: SolidWorks, Draft Sight/AutoCAD, Excel, Power Point, Excel, and Power Point.
- Must have a general familiarity with manufacturing processes such as metal fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly and be capable of interfacing with manufacturing personnel.
- Must be able to demonstrate strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and their applications.
Desired Skills:
- Proficient in pressure vessel design, welding, material selection and fabrication practices per ASME Section VIII Div. 1 Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
- Exposure to ASME Section VIII Div. 2 Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, particularly Part 5.
- Proficient in both top down and bottom up design techniques using SolidWorks
- Exposure to finite element analysis (FEA) or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with a basic understanding of the underlying physical equations and numerical solution methods.
