MSSQL Cloud Admin

 Responsibilities:

Manage MSSQL databases including versions 2014 and 2016.

Upgrade and maintain new versions of MSSQL databases.

Create and configure MSSQL databases for production and non-production environments.

Configure database native HADR solutions such as Always-On AG.

Conduct test drills to validate database backup and restore procedures.

Configure database backup policies and perform regular backups.

Install and configure database monitoring tools for alerts and metrics.

Manage database user lifecycle including creation, access provision, and deletion.

Maintain database schema, objects, and user security.

Support database and data migration tasks.

Monitor, analyze, and resolve database performance issues.

Perform day-to-day database maintenance tasks including managing database jobs, monitoring alerts and logs, and checking database statistics status.

Restore and refresh databases as per request.

Collaborate with cross-functional and application teams to support database activities.

Deploy approved scripts provided by the application team.

Provide end-to-end operations support for MSSQL through monitoring, incident response, and incident resolution.

Participate in root cause analysis on incidents to ensure timely resolution.

Understand and adhere to ITIL framework for ticketing, problem ticket, and change processes, including emergency changes.

Work on Service Improvement Plans and innovations to enhance database operations.

Identify team skill enhancement and training needs.

Create best practice documents, known error records, and knowledge base articles.

Maintain agreed SLAs and provide reports as agreed in the Statement of Work (SOW).

Requirements:

Experience in managing MSSQL databases, specifically versions 2014 and 2016.

Proficiency in upgrading and managing new versions of MSSQL databases.

Ability to install MSSQL database software and configure databases for production and non-production environments.

Knowledge of configuring database native HADR solutions such as Always-On AG.

Experience in conducting test drills for database backup and restore procedures.

Familiarity with configuring database backup policies and performing regular backups.

Proficiency in installing and configuring database monitoring tools for alerts and metrics.

Experience in managing database user lifecycle and maintaining database security.

Knowledge of database and data migration processes.

Strong analytical skills to monitor, analyze, and resolve database performance issues.

Understanding of ITIL framework for ticketing, problem ticket, and change processes.

Familiarity with SLA management and reporting processes.
