Job Description :
We are looking for 8+ years experienced database administrators who will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of RDBMS and NoSQL databases. Who will also be responsible for orchestrating upgrades, backups, and provisioning of database instances/clusters. Should also possess Project Management skills and experience to handle multiple projects.
DBA Responsibilities :
1. Maintain all AWS RDS databases required for development, testing and 24x7 production usage. Excellent knowledge and hands on experience in MySQL and MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
2. Provide technical support to application development teams and their members as part of a rotating DBA team shift. This includes the management of all database objects, including schemas, users, tables, indexes, views, sequences, grants and procedures.
3. Tune database parameters and their related SQL based queries for better performance. Edit database objects as required to improve performance and ensure maximum uptime.
4. Perform ETL data transfer between OLTP and OLAP database systems.
5. Evaluate releases of the database systems we use, their tools, and third-party products for value, security and performance.
6. Ensure the performance, availability, and security of clusters of RDS instances. orchestrate upgrades, backups, and provisioning of database instances. work in tandem with the other teams, preparing documentations and specifications as required.
7. Responsible for planning, executing, monitoring and completing multiple database related projects.
8. Flexible to work between EST and PST Time zones on a rotation basis.
The DBA should posses the following skills :
A Strong proficiency in MySQL database management and MongoDB. Decent experience with recent versions of MySQL and MongoDB.
B Experience in MongoDB, MySQL backup, restore, replication will be preferred.
C Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL and AWS RDS.
D Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
E Hands on Experience in RDBMS/NoSQL database backup, partial restore, data recovery, upgrades and migrations, data partitioning.
F Good knowledge of database modeling and design concepts.
G Knowledge of MySQL features, versions, migration, upgradation, backup techniques, MySQL utilities, MySQL limitations and workarounds.
H Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications.
I Good knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Dynamo, Snowflake, Aurora clusters.
J Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Gitlab, Flyway, Jira.
K Data Warehouse, Postgresql, Snowflake, Data Replication and ETL process knowledge is a bonus.
L Familiarity with alerting tools like opsgenie, SignalFx, Cloudwatch and Terraform is add on.
M Good hands on experience on AWS and sound knowledge of AWS services RDS, DMS, S3, EC2 VPC is required.
N Sound communication skills with management, development teams, systems administrators, and other related service providers.
O Self driven, proactive, good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
