Network Engineer

Position Description

Research, design, and develop, test, configure and implement computer network management systems; Manage and resolve problems in administration; Plan and supervise implementation of TCP/IP connectivity support and resolve stack issues for networked systems; upgrade and install hardware and applications; as well as programming and scripting for network administration; analyze network requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints; formulate and design network system using scientific testing procedures, programming and documentation; manage email, anti-spam and virus protection; set up user accounts, permissions and passwords; monitor network usage; ensure the most cost-effective and efficient use of servers; recommend and provide IT solutions to business and management problems; ensure that all IT equipment comply with industry standards; analyze and resolve network issues, including major system crash; undertake routine preventative measures and implementing, maintain and monitor network security, particularly if the network connects to the internet; provide training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence; supervise help-desk technicians; working closely with other departments/organizations and collaborating with other IT staff; plan and implement future IT developments and undertaking project work; manage employer websites and keep internal networks running; monitoring the use of the web by employees. Relocation/ telecommuting may be required plus travel to various unanticipated client locations within the United States for short- and long-term assignments.

VTP, STP, DTP, HSRP, Splunk, AWS, Python, FMC, TCP, NTOP, Wire shark, Ping, Telnet, Putty/Tera Term, Cisco ASA, Cisco Prime, CISCO FTD, CISCO WSA.

Education

Master’s degree in computer science/Computer Application/Information Systems Technology/Engineering (Mechanical/Civil/Electrical). Will accept bachelor’s in computer science/Computer Application/Information Systems Technology/Engineering (Mechanical/Civil/Electrical) plus five (5) years of progressive experience in related fields in lieu of master’s degree. Will accept foreign education equivalent.
