Description

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant discipline
  • Seven (7) years of practical experience in a network engineer role
  • Design and engineering experience of complex telecommunications networks
  • Ability to diagnose and remediate complex network issues
  • Technical knowledge of advanced Ethernet switching, IP routing (OSPF, VRRP, BGP)
  • Intimate knowledge of fiber optic transmission, termination, and testing practices
  • Working knowledge of complex network infrastructure security (ACLs, stateful policies, intrusion detection, and prevention)
  • Experienced in network management and testing (DWDM, optical fiber, wireless)
  • Experienced in various WAN protocols
  • Ability to stand, bend, and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional, Cisco Certified Design Professional or equivalent

 

PREFERRED ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS (In addition to above)

  • Familiarity with next generation technologies including but not limited to MetroE, DWDM, FFx, IP/MPLS, IPv6, and wireless
  • Hands-on experience with Ciena, Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, and HP switches and routers
