Performance tuner

Job Competencies

The Performance Tuner supports development, maintenance, and production support by ensuring the performance of the client application.

The Performance Tuner works with multiple organizations and recommends and implement changes to the configuration of the Oracle environment, including database upgrades, organization of the database, and new features of Oracle that come available.

The Performance Tuner needs significant application design experience, excellent communication skills to coordinate and direct efforts when working through performance problems with the various project teams, and must be a self-directed, self-starter who can work with minimal guidance and supervision.

Participate in functional design, technical design, and code review sessions with the application maintenance and development team and provide input to those designs with regards to the performance of reviewed items.

Review and analyze the performance of the application in production, and advise the State of any anticipated performance problems and make recommendations for performance improvement.

Resolve performance issues in production and development regions, as needed. This includes participating in a 24 x 7 on-call rotation for addressing performance issues.

Enforce standards for application coding, especially those that pertain to instrumenting code so that performance of the application can be monitored.

Recommend, as needed, upgrades to the Oracle architecture to improve performance, address new requirements, or incorporate new technology.

Qualifications

• 3 years experience in large-scale systems development and/or maintenance in a complex technical environment.
• 3 years Oracle tuning methodology experience.
• 3 years technical experience in:
• Oracle PL/SQL
• Oracle 11g/12c Database
• Data modeling
• 3 years experience with structured development methodology.
