Job Description:

Our client currently has openings for experienced Pole Line Engineer with a Professional Engineer License. Work experience should be related to distribution pole line, FTTX, FTTC, long-haul/interofficefiber MDU designs. This position will report locally to the Toronto, ON, Canada office Engineering Manager. The ideal candidates will be self-motivated, technically oriented individuals with the desire to learn and apply current design skills required for the review and approval of Aerial permitting and OSP telecommunications design projects. Under limited supervision, Pole line Engineer would perform pole loading calculations using, Spidacalc and Quickpole and create permit drawing using AutoCAD. The associate will also conduct research, read and interpret field data, land base maps, civil blueprints, survey documents, and field sketches. They will also compare the information contained on maps/drawings with network facility records and information from governmental and geographical resources, including data and measurements collected from the field to develop and complete pole line designs to support FTTH projects, BAU and relocation, and MDU projects.

 

Position Requirements:

• Must be a Professional Engineer in Ontario.

• Experience in the civil, structural, mechanical engineering / construction, architecture (desired) and telecommunications industry (strongly desired).

• Should have very good understanding of basic computer concepts and technology.

• Expertise in any Quickpole, SpidaCalc, PLS CAD is required.

• Experience with Aerial Communications line & poles inspections or design. Using CSA 22.3 No. 1-20 Overhead Systems. and O.Reg. 22/04 guidelines.

• Knowledge of Fiber backbone (F1) and distribution networks (F2), 5G/Smart City high level designs is strongly preferred. Knowledge of permitting processes (highway, railroad, city, county, etc.) are also highly desired.
