Job Description:
Pay Range $50hour - $53hour
Responsibilities:
- The Senior Database Administrator maintains PostgreSQL databases for various applications, including all client-facing environments, database backup, support of databases across internal and end-user applications.
- Responsibilities include improvements to database integrity through quality assurance and managing change control processes related to the database environments. Additional responsibilities include analyzing existing database applications for performance tuning, alerting & monitoring, working with application developers to integrate efforts with relational databases, participate in team or company projects as required, maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of existing best practices in database administration, design, and implementation, capacity planning and provide on-site support.
- As a Senior Database Administrator, responsibilities include:
- Migration.
- Experience with On-Prem to Cloud Migrations (Backup/Restore, Export/Import, Load Testing, Benchmarking Old Vs New Environments).
- Act as the PostgreSQL SME to provide expert level of migration expertise.
- Ensuring timely completion of migration tasks.
- Real time monitoring.
- Proactively monitor and manage a large database infrastructure across multiple applications.
- Troubleshooting.
- Provide expert level troubleshooting to quickly identify and resolve database related incidents across a wide array of technologies and platforms.
- Responsible for participating in root cause analysis and problem resolution.
- Makes technical decisions during high priority incidents focused on impact remediation and communicates clearly to call participants and leadership.
- Perform updates/changes during maintenance windows.
- Understand current capacity issues and the capacity planning processes.
- Work with team to review change requests.
- Participate in software deployments.
- Assimilate organizational objectives into operational action plans.
- Change Management.
- Support a rigorous change control process including creating, reviewing, approving, and implementing change records for database activities.
- Vendor Management.
- Engage, drive, and escalate issues with database vendors related to incident management.
- Problem Management.
- Support a rigorous problem management process including problem creation and review database activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Participate in special projects representing database operations on new implementations or troubleshooting deep dives.

Basic Qualifications For Consideration:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or information technology or equivalent work experience.
- At least 8+ years’ experience working as a PostgreSQL Server DBA in an Enterprise environment.
- Experience with backup processes & procedures.
- Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills.
- The ability to document standard operational procedures.
- Knowledge and experience with capacity planning as it pertains to databases.
- Ability to work Autonomously and as part of a team.
- Other Database Platform (Oracle, SQL, DB2, etc.) skills are plus.
Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Experience with Cloud Technology concepts, topologies, and service models (PaaS/SaaS/IaaS, Azure, AWS) is a plus.
- Hands-on experience working with various recent versions of PostgreSQL.
- Experience with MS SQL and/or DB2 SQL is a big plus.
- Knowledge and experience with database management and other monitoring tools (Foglight, Client, Extrahop, Dynatrace, etc).
- Hands-on experience working with Server partition design and implement.
- Knowledge and experience on database HA/ DR design and implementation, always-on grouping, replication, mirroring, and log shipping.
- Knowledge and experience on design and support large database migration strategy.
- Hands-on experience working with in-place database upgrade experiences on VM and physical servers.
- Knowledge and experience on database service broker (or similar) troubleshooting is a plus.
- PostgreSQL Certifications are preferred, MCSE/DB2 Certifications are a plus.
- Travel required: Less than 5% travel.
