Power BI Developer

JOB ROLE:
Job Title: Power BI Developer
Location: Nashville TN, Hybrid - 100 mile radius of office required. Will not consider fully remote.
Duration: 12 months
Client: CAT Financials
Experience: 8-10 Years

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with technical team and business users to collect requirements and develop necessary reports in PowerBI.
• Design and map data models to shift raw data into meaningful insights.
• Utilize Power BI to build interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports.
• Transform business requirements into technical publications.
• Build multi-dimensional data models.
• Develop strong data documentation about algorithms, parameters, models.
• Support reports in Production.
• Troubleshoot potential report/data issues and be able to articulate the problem.
• SQL querying for better results.

Position’s Contributions to Work Group: 
• The team is growing and working through a major Systems Transformation. 
• All reporting previously existed on Cognos off an Oracle database. We are actively building a Data Warehouse in Snowflake and converting reports to Business Objects and PowerBI.
• While we expect most development going forward to be in PowerBI, we do also support Business Objects and the individual would need to be willing to learn it as needed.

Typical task breakdown:
• Work is either assigned through projects (typically in Azure DevOps) or ServiceNow.
• Most efforts have some form of project update meeting or daily/weekly SCRUM.

Interaction with team: 
• Highly collaborative environment.
• We are a mix of Agile principles and Waterfall.

Work environment: 
• We are hybrid. We come in periodically to work in the office, but we are mostly from home. However, working full-time from the office is definitely a possibility if the resource preferred that.
• Candidate Requirements
• Education & Experience Required: 
• 5+ years’ experience in Reporting and as much experience in PowerBI as possible.

Technical Skills: 
Highly competent in PowerBI, other reporting tools, SQL, and have an ability to document well.

Soft Skills:
• Strong communication skills with business users.
• Strong collaboration with team members.
• Ability to learn and apply new knowledge quickly.
