Principal Server Engineer

Job Description

As a Principal Server Engineer in the Wix Fintech group, you'll architect and develop scalable payment solutions that power millions of businesses worldwide. You'll take ownership of complex distributed systems and mentor engineering teams to shape the future of our global payment platform.

In your day-to-day, you will:

Architect high-performance payment processing microservices using Scala

Lead critical technical initiatives across provider integrations and system optimizations

Mentor engineering teams on distributed systems and scalable architecture patterns

Drive technical decisions for mission-critical payment infrastructure components

Design solutions for international payment methods and regulatory requirements

Develop public APIs enabling third-party integrations with Wix Payments

Scale microservices architecture to handle growing transaction volumes

Qualifications:

8+ years of experience in backend development, with a proven track record of building large-scale distributed systems

Strong knowledge of system design principles, concurrency patterns, and distributed architecture

Experience driving technical decisions and mentoring engineering teams

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex production issues

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders

Experience with Scala - an advantage

Prior fintech or payments industry experience - an advantage
