The Process Engineer is responsible for improving the manufacturing process, quality, methods, safety, environment, flexibility, and productivity of existing equipment and developing and optimizing reliable manufacturing processes relating to new and existing products.
Participate in new product launch and assist and/or establish new part process and parameters
Support other departments by collecting, analyzing, and presenting data necessary for decision-making.
Provides input for design of Pre-launch activities for equipment, fixtures, jigs, and tooling.
Develops Equipment Statement of Requirements.
Schedule and monitor Process Technician activity.
Assist with mold repair and troubleshooting
Offer technical assistance and advice to production and supports production training programs.
Evaluate and improve processes currently in production
Help improve process capability and improve quality rates
Work with equipment manufacturers to develop cost effective and efficient manufacturing processes.
Review tool and equipment designs for ensuring process demands are met.
Evaluate current processes and product designs for improving efficiency and yields.
Troubleshoot and resolve process issues.
Lead new process and material development initiatives.
Develop standard operating procedures for new and existing processes.
Computer and computer assisted design (CAD) proficiency.
Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment.
Develop and refine new and existing manufacturing processes.
Provide daily manufacturing support and develop new manufacturing processes.
Source and recommend new equipment and tooling.
Lead process design and modification efforts to improve plant productivity, reduce cycle time, reduce scrap and rework costs, and lower overall costs.
Must have working knowledge of the Core Tools used to support the Quality Management system, including but not limited to, problem solving, product launches, and continuous improvement activities.
Responsible for working with the Engineering and Quality departments to ensure compliance to the change management process; must have working knowledge of product deviation release, technical change process, CTM project.
Develop and review processes to minimize environmental impacts.
Minimum required two-year technical degree or two years' experience in the manufacturing industry.
Ability to troubleshoot and maintain manufacturing equipment.
Ability to perform computer aided-design and drafting tasks implementing AutoCAD (or equivalent).
Ability to read and interpret product drawings.
Proven track record of process improvements.
Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
Five or more years manufacturing experience relating to plastic injection molding and rubber compression molding products
Three or more years of engineering experience in a fast-paced, continuous improvement, production environment
Possess knowledge of Engel injection molding machines
Possess knowledge of plastic injection molding process
Possess knowledge of six sigma concepts and/or lean manufacturing techniques
