Project Manager

Austin, TX (Remote within Texas)

6 months Contract with possibility to extension

Process Consistency:

Client’s Project Management Framework (PMF) process -

  • Adhere to the PMF process and promptly complete PMF artifacts by the project classification. Move from Initiation to Planning phase no later than three months from the start of the Initiation phase.
  • Chair Change Control Board (CCB) for the application team(s) to ensure project scope changes are reviewed and have proper approval, documentation, and communication before implementing the change request.
  • Follow state and agency contract procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the Release Management, ICCB, Risk Management, Project Audit, Issue Notification procedures, and guidelines.

Deliverable Quality:

  • Monitor project costs and act to address and communicate any cost variances.
  • Ensure project and maintenance work adheres to ITS quality standards, procedures, and audit requirements.
  • Conduct Release Planning and Release Retrospectives, as appropriate.
  • Complete the invoice reviews and approvals by due dates.

Customer Satisfaction:

  • Ensure routine project status updates completed to the project team and executive team members.
  • Work with extended team members to coordinate release activities, infrastructure changes (ICCB), and general project needs.
  • Report critical production issues to ITS management, team members, and key stakeholders, within 4 hours, using the standard ITS Issue Notification Reporting Procedures.
  • Conduct quarterly project status meetings with customers.

Leadership:

  • Work to ensure team members understand their roles and responsibilities within the team.
  • Provide process or tool training, as appropriate, for new hires (e.g., PMF, Agile, ICCB…)
  • Actively listen to and seek feedback from team members and customers to determine satisfaction or areas for improvement.
  • Outline plans for employee and team development, as appropriate.
  • Confirm work tasks are assigned to appropriate project team members and within capacity.
  • Manage project team activities to meet customer/stakeholder expectations.

Vision:

  • Create and update the yearly application roadmap.
  • Understand the impacts and dependencies on a project when changes to scope and schedule occur.
  • Confidently communicate and discuss application requirements and functions.
  • Communicate proposed solutions to the management team when roadmap needs do not match resource capabilities.

Required Skills:

  • High level of expertise in communications domain;
  • Expertise in identifying and defining problems, analysis and developing recommendations;
  • Extensive experience managing consulting engagements;
  • Specialist in managing the engagement financials & operations;
  • High level of ethics, judgment, communication and people skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
  • Certified Texas Contract Manager (CTCM) preferred.
  • Experience with Agile software development and release methodologies preferred
