Job Description:

  • The Linux/OpenShift Engineer at Estes Express Lines is required to support several critical systems, including several Red Hat OpenShift container platform(s) along with its associated infrastructure and numerous standalone Linux-based systems.
  • The engineer will handle requests for new or updated services and applications in multiple technical domains, along with troubleshoot and remediate incidents and problems within the OpenShift platform and adjacent technical fields.
  • The candidate will participate in numerous agile-based project teams in which they are required to operate within pursuit of a common goal.
  • Additionally, the engineer is responsible for enterprise-class technology environments that Estes Express Lines requires to run its day-to-day operations.

 

Required Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience working with Enterprise-level container-based systems (OpenShift, Docker, CRI-O, Kubernetes, etc.) including associated on-prem infrastructure with 3+ years supporting dedicated RedHat OpenShift Platform 3.x and 4.x systems (OCP, OCS, HAProxy, etc.)
  • Experience supporting Microservice and Cloud-native applications in a CI/CD automated, multi-tenant application environment with multiple partners and use cases
  • Experience supporting a Linux (RHEL preferred) or similar environment
  • Experience using various CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins, Artifactory, or similar)
  • Experience using process automation tools and techniques (Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, etc.) Experience with common scripting languages (bash, python, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby, etc.)
  • Experience utilizing application monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ElasticSearch, InfluxDB, TeleGraf, DataDog APM, and others
  •  Experience supporting common infrastructure and security related objects and services such as DNS, Firewall Rules, SSL, Load Balancers, and Identity Management integration
  • Experience working with crucial office automation tools such as Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related field, or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background is required
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Professional certification in multiple areas of applicable technology environment(s) required
  • Advanced understanding of security practices surrounding technology environments
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing SLAs
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues, develop solutions, implement and train others
  • Ability to make requirements actionable
  • Ability to gather and analyze relevant data for troubleshooting and technology management needs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teams in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures, and Code of Conduct
  • Must be able to interact well with others and responds well to questions
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team setting
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
  • Must be able to lift approximately 10-15 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job
  • Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations/procedure manuals, and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
