Description

Overview:

The Regional Construction Manager will oversee multiple (1-4)* CLS projects within a specified region acting on behalf of Google.  Will be in charge of the oversight of all activities and contractors performing work on the job site through all phases of the project execution, including, but not limited to, aspects related to safety, cost, schedule and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Provide comprehensive management and oversight of 1-4 fiber-optic cable landing station construction projects within the region, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.  This includes all phases of the project e.g. design, permitting, mobilization, construction, commissioning, turn-over, and close-out.
  • Reporting: Provide weekly/bi-weekly project status reports for each project within your assigned region of responsibility including but not limited to updates to the OPC schedule, schedule risk log, updated and life AI tracker clearly delinitiaing the Issues and risks in the project, updated budget report and a full OAC report covering all aspects of the project such as Safety, quality, change order log, submittal log, production charts, etc….
  • Contractor Management: Supervise and coordinate the activities of contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Verify list of payments issued against tasks performed on site. Approve trades / subcontractors provided by the general contractor.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for each construction site  between project stakeholders, including the project owner, contractors, engineers, and local authorities. Facilitate weekly project meetings, and any additional meetings needed, to ensure clear, effective communication across all levels of the project. 
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality control procedures to ensure that all work meets or exceeds the project specifications and industry standards. Conduct weekly / bi-weekly site inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work. Monitor and ensure that all parties involved in the execution of the project follow their established QA/QC plan and parameters set forth in the Program Quality plan.
  • Health & Safety Management: Enforce strict adherence to health and safety guidelines and regulations on the job site, promoting a safe work environment for all personnel. Monitor and ensure that all parties involved in the execution of the project follow their established Safety plan and parameters set forth in the Program Safety plan.
  • Budget and Schedule: Monitor project budgets and schedules, making minor adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines and financial targets, and report on topics that are subject to escalation according to project specifications. Provide regular reports to senior management on project status, risks, challenges, and forecasts.
  • Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team or with contractors, ensuring minimal impact on project timeline and budget.
  • Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, obtaining all necessary permits and approvals.
  • Ethics: proactively identify any potential red flags or risks associated with any bad practices in the projects encompassing all aspects including but not limited to labor, subcontracting, purchasing and delivery to then escalate accordingly to determine path forward. Site managers will ensure that all parties involved in the execution of the project are acting in good faith and if not, highlight and escalate to determine an action / corrective plan.
  • Environmental: identify and monitor the environmental requirements specific to the project deployment to ensure there’s no deviation from the norms or parameters set by the project design and local authorities. Site Manager will ensure that the General contractor and all subcontractors stay within the parameters set forth by the local authorities, design and permits.
