Search Business Analyst

Job Summary
The Business Analyst will work closely with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure the effectiveness of our search engine relevance and optimization efforts. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of search engine mechanisms and be able to translate business needs into technical requirements. This role involves analyzing search data, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending solutions to optimize search results and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and understand user needs related to search engine functionality.
• Analyze search engine performance metrics to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in relevance and optimization.
• Develop and document business requirements for search engine enhancements, including indexing, ranking, scoring, and user interface changes.
• Create detailed reports and visualizations to communicate search engine performance to stakeholders.
• Work with engineering and product teams to implement search engine optimizations and validate their effectiveness.
• Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback on search engine performance.
• Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in search engine relevance and optimization.
• Assist in developing and maintaining documentation related to search engine functionality, processes, and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Experience as a business analyst, product manager, or similar role with a focus on search engines.
• Experience with search engine platforms like Apache Solr, Elasticsearch, or Algolia.
• Understanding of search engine relevance, optimization techniques, and user experience.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business language.
• Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and working in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of query optimization, indexing, and machine learning techniques for search relevance.
• Familiarity with user research and usability testing methodologies.
• Understanding of software development processes and technical constraints.
