As a Sr. Embedded Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for hardware product design from initial concept through requirements definition, architecture definition, part selection, detailed design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, qualification in field, and technical support to customer and partners. This role serves as a technical expert on Lancer equipment and leads projects of high technical complexity. This role requires the ability to mentor the team and support the future of the organization’s strategic technical priorities.
Essential Functions
- Prepare, communicate, and monitor major technical project plans.
- Conceptualize design solutions: technologies, layouts, and schematics; components and specifications.
- Test and evaluate prototypes or production parts to ensure requirements are met.
- Lead fabrication of prototypes PCB and oversee testing of electronics designs.
- Compile documentation required to complete design projects.
- Interpret and develop requirement documentation: customer-specific, technical performance, safety, agency, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Mentor other engineers on circuit design best practices (schematic & layout) and electronics commercialization.
- Provide expert level analysis of electronics design concept development via simulated and in-circuit design, as well as large electronic assembly management procedures.
- Develop low-level firmware for ARM-based microcontrollers.
- Collaborate with software and firmware engineers to troubleshoot integration issues.

- Able to lead technical teams by creating project plans, overseeing the hardware development process, setting milestones, and ensuring timely delivery.
- Ability to design printed circuit boards (PCBs) for embedded systems while factoring cost reductions, design for manufacturability, and automated test.
- High proficiency in PCB design tools, such as Altium, required.
- Knowledge of techniques to ensure good signal integrity and to address EMI/EMC challenges in custom PCBA designs.
- Proficiency in designing for high-speed signals, considering factors such as impedance matching, to minimize signal degradation.
- Familiarity with PCB manufacturing applications required.
- Able to generate hardware test plans for Accelerated Life Testing (ALT) of custom-designed electronics and digital displays.
- Familiar with FMEA techniques and their application to electronic products.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and assembly for embedded systems.
- Experience with embedded systems development tools, debuggers, and software development kits (SDKs).
- Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture, real-time operating systems, and microcontrollers/microprocessors.
- Proficient in using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other hardware debugging tools.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations for custom PCBA designs, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with version control systems, such as SVN, for source code management.
- Some 3D modeling experience in Solidworks recommended.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project, AX and Bluestar is a plus.
