Job Description:

  • Develop geographic information system programs, products, and tools to support effective law enforcement, dispatching, workload, and service request analysis.
  • Create/maintain internal GIS web portals using real-time and historical data.
  • Provide programming, technical, hardware, and software support for various GIS systems associated with CAD and Stars mobile data including dispatcher and mobile mapping, internal web mapping applications, analytic support of GIS data, special GIS-based projects, GIS programming, and working with other agencies to share GIS data.
  • Develop and administer focused web applications using ArcGIS Online and existing web portals.
  • Manages GIS data, maintains data quality, contributing to the design and maintenance of the GIS database which will include data editing and quality control.
  • Manage multiple GIS-related software systems and servers, create data-gathering methods, and support GIS sharing with other agencies.
  • Create and maintain assigned layers, geospatial datasets, and related data.
  • Compile and integrate data from various sources and convert non-GIS data formats into usable GIS data.
  • Prepare GIS application program modifications and documentation, including needs analysis and database design.
  • Work with internal users from across Client divisions to support field operations mapping needs.
  • Perform GIS analysis and reports to support organization decision-making.
  • Through data collection, research, and analysis, develop geographic information products for use by decision-makers regarding prevention, protection, response, or other law enforcement-related activities.
  • Provide presentations as needed to executive staff.
  • Manage multiple GIS-related software systems and servers, create data-gathering methods, and support GIS sharing with other agencies.
  • Provide training to users as needed on GIS applications.
  • Maintain an in-depth working knowledge of GIS systems and applications as well as related hardware, software, and peripherals used by the client.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, systems, software, and applications.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work independently and within a team environment to meet the agency’s needs.
  • Working knowledge of GPS/GIS theory, practice, analytical, and geo-processing functions; enterprise GIS automation techniques; mobile GIS-based applications; and of GPS/GIS principles including, but not limited to, cartography and map design, projection and coordinate systems, and GIS data management.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Server/Portal; reading, interpreting, analyzing, mapping, and displaying spatial and non-spatial data in both digital and physical formats.
  • Experience with static or digital/interactive Maps, ESRI dashboards, and ESRI Survey123.
  • Using ESRI desktop software suite (ArcGIS Pro) and with other office applications such as Microsoft Suite.
  • Designing simple application interfaces; compiling and evaluating information from alternative data sources, i.e. vector; creating and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
  • Experience working in law enforcement or military organizations.
