Responsibilities

I. Job Summary

As a network engineer, you will be part of our IT team that designs, installs, configures, and maintains our network infrastructure using Fortinet switching and firewall solutions and Sierra Wireless cellular devices. You will ensure the security, availability, and performance of our network systems and services, and support our end users and other IT staff.


II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
Plan and implement network projects using Fortinet and Sierra Wireless products and best practices.
Monitor and troubleshoot network issues and perform root cause analysis.
Manage and update network documentation and inventory.
Provide technical support and guidance to end users and other IT staff.
Research and evaluate new network technologies and solutions.
 

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.
Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers.
May lead project teams and/or plan and supervise assignments of lower-level employees.
 

IV. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and five (5) years of relevant work experience.
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

None required, but prefer FCX, FCP or FCA
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

Strong knowledge and experience with Fortinet switching and firewall products, including FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer
Strong knowledge and experience with Sierra Wireless cellular devices, including AirLink routers and gateways, AirVantage cloud platform, and SIM management.
Experience with network protocols and services, such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, VLAN, QoS, etc.
Experience with network security and compliance standards, such as PCI, HIPAA, NIST.
Certifications in Fortinet NSE and Sierra Wireless are preferred.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills

Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday.
Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds rarely.
Normal setting for this job is: office setting.
Must be available to work standard business hours, as well as be available to work non-standard hours in case of emergency (natural disasters, power outages, etc.). May need to attend after hours calls with the offshore team.
