Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze and make recommendations to adjust network sizes to meet volume or capacity demands
Supervise network operations, maintenance, repairs or upgrades
Review and approve equipment configuration prototypes, including network hardware, software, servers, or server operation systems
Review and approve solutions for network problems
Review and approve conceptual, logical or physical network designs
Develop procedures to track, project or report network availability, reliability, capacity or utilization
Develop or recommend network security measures, such as firewalls, network security audits, or automated security probes

The Test Engineering & Certification group under Global Network Engineering is responsible for performing network lab testing and certification both in a physical and virtual lab environment, and validation of network changes prior to implementation into Client Global Network Infrastructures. 

The Senior Network Engineer candidate will be responsible for working with the following teams: Client Global Network Engineering, Global Network Architecture, Global Network Operations to test and certify network changes and new designs using network modeling tools.
This role serves as a technical specialist who works independently and as a member of a team, only requiring guidance in complex situations. 
The Test Engineering & Certification team is the only team under the Global Network Engineering organization that has the ability to work on all of the Client network environments (i.e.: Commercial, Data Center, Cloud, Hadoop, Backbone).


Responsibilities:
This is an individual contributor role responsible for testing, analyzing and validating complex network configurations and designs prior to deployment in the production network.

Responsible for testing network change scripts leveraging various network simulation tools like EVE-NG, Cisco CML, Riverbed’s NetPlanner prior to network changes.
Evaluate new network modeling tools and collaborate on the development effort
Publish the results from network modeling test efforts and review with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Design and analyze network models using varying network modeling tools, and work with a team of network engineers to review results and develop configuration improvements.
Build network models to simulate and test environments prior to deploying and implementation of network changes.
Collect network and application information required for simulation model building and testing.
Work under time pressure constraints and present modeling results in a clear, articulate manner stating any issued and resolution steps to Network Engineering and Network Operations management.
Work closely with stakeholders in Global Network Engineering, Global Network Architecture and Global Network Operations teams to understand the network designs
Work closely with project managers to complete testing and certification on time without impact to documented project timelines.

Qualifications
7-10 years of work experience and a bachelor’s degree or 6 years of work experience with an advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 years of experience with a PhD.
Ability to work well under pressure and very tight deadlines, including turnaround of network models in five days or less.
Strong network engineering knowledge and experience in network routing protocols, network design and configurations.
Extensive knowledge of network hardware/OS including proven experience with vendors such as Cisco, Arista and Juniper.
Extensive technical expertise in IP networking technologies such as MPLS, VPN, Load Balancing, SDN and NFV.
Expertise in designing & troubleshooting networks using IP routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF and BGP. Knowledge of encryption technologies (IPSec, SSL), standby protocols HSRP and VRRP, VXLAN, MLAG and network address translation (NAT) experience is required.
Strong interpersonal, and leadership skills including effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
Experience in high-availability networks in load-balanced, n-tier application environments.

Preferred Skills:
Hands on experience with modeling tools like EVE-NG, Cisco CML, or Riverbed’s NetPlanner.
Advanced Network Industry certification e.g. CCIE and JNCIE
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Telecommunications, or related technical field
Network programming using Ansible, Python

Must have skills 
Cisco, SML, EVE-NG, Riverbeds NetPlanner.
Routing protocols.
Extensive technical expertise in IP networking technologies such as MPLS, VPN, Load Balancing, SDN and NFV.
Designing and troubleshooting.
Network programming. Python.
Bachelor’s degree.
6-7 years of experience at least.

Nice to have skills 
Certifications are a plus.
