Job Purpose

As a team member whose job contributes to the Solution system division working on Electric and Autonomous off-road vehicles. This person will lead the installation and operation of autonomous vehicles deployed at customer locations and lead the technical hardware/software schemes including adoption of connectivity technologies and mobility products to enhance productivity, safety, and business use case potential.

Key Accountabilities

  • Autonomous machine operation by confirming the autonomous machine meets mechanical, electrical hardware and software specification for Customer requirements. Investigate the issue of the machine and fix the problem for entire system including both hardware and software.
  • Organize of logistics for autonomous vehicle and related equipment to support customer site operation and trade shows.
  • Lead ongoing customer support as needed by arranging customer field training, technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Lead the startup of hardware at Customer locations and trade shows to complete mapping process.
  • Organize and lead the collection of field shape, obstacle, and organize map data within the database for autonomous operations.
  • Integration of operation system that includes knowledge and troubleshooting for common software/hardware (GPS/Vehicle Control/Mapping/Etc.) faults and overall electric-mechanical drive system components, while being expected to support the development activities for several projects.
  • Lead the creation of data organization system and analysis of vehicle data to mature autonomous vehicle development.
  • Communicate the hardware / software area action plans and explain how they relate to the department's strategy and direction, and the broader division's mission. Motivate peers to achieve department's goals while growing professionally at the same time.

Qualification, Experience, and Skills

Education:
An undergraduate or graduate level degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Robotics Engineering / Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence / EE / Electronics or similar engineering disciplines.

Key qualifying skills: 

  • 10 years engineering experience related to electro-mechanical and/or robotic systems.
  • Experience leading a team while field testing of hardware and software applications.
  • Experience communicating with customers and sales team to support vehicle implementation to the market.
  • Proficient in creating a plan and schedule.
  • Proficient analytical, problem solving, judgement, decision-making and prioritization.
  • Experience in fabrication of proto-type parts in metal, resin, and electrical wiring.
  • Knowledge of CAN and vehicle analysis/diagnostics tools
  • Familiar or willing to learn software coding for C/C++, python, Linux and ROS
  • Familiar or willing to learn working with various complex hardware and software systems including lidar, radar, cameras, and computers.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including written and oral.
  • Proficient time management skills
  • Must be able to possess a high level of confidentiality.
  • Experience working in construction or landscape industry a plus, but not required.
  • Japanese language knowledge a plus, but not required.

Workstyle :

Onsite. 

Upto ~ 10% telecommute may be OK

Travel requirements: Up to 60%
