Responsibilities

Be a part of the Oracle Cloud for Industry's success story. Work with Oracle's world class technology to develop, implement, and support Oracle's global infrastructure. Every day at Oracle is different, as new clients, markets and business opportunities push us to achieve great results. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) cloud services enables you to build and run a wide range of applications and services in a highly available hosted environment. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure offers high-performance compute capabilities and storage capacity. OCI provides real-time elasticity for enterprise applications by combining Oracle's autonomous services, integrated security, and serverless compute.

The amount and velocity of data available to the enterprise is accelerating. This amplifies the need for efficient, secure database management that enhances data security, reduces downtime, improves performance, and is not vulnerable to human error. An autonomous database can achieve these objectives. An autonomous database leverages AI and machine learning to provide full, end-to-end automation for provisioning, security, updates, availability, performance, change management and error prevention. In this respect, an autonomous database has specific characteristics.
 * It is self-driving. All database and infrastructure management, monitoring, and tuning processes are automated.
 * It is self-securing. Built-in capabilities protect against both external attacks and malicious internal users.
 * It is self-repairing. This can prevent downtime, including unplanned maintenance.

You will be creating Autonomous Databases for different workload types:
 * Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW): Built for decision support and data warehouse workloads. Offers fast queries over large volumes of data.
 * Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP): Built for transactional workloads. Offers high concurrency for short-running queries and transactions.
 * Autonomous JSON Database: Built for JSON-centric application development. Offers developer-friendly document APIs and native JSON storage.

Our team is responsible for functional testing of Database Backup/Recovery feature, both for on-premise as well as on the cloud. We cover critical functionalities of Oracle Database like Backup/Recovery, RMAN (Recovery Manager) and Flashback; engineered system ZDLRA and Backup/recovery of Autonomous DB Cloud services. You will be directly working on Backup/Restore of Autonomous Databases on OCI. Also, we are working on a new Cloud Service for which we need to create the whole set of tools and test infrastructure from scratch. You will partner with core engineering team responsible for architecting, designing, developing the products and managing the cloud service. We work very closely with global development teams to understand the design of features and plan/implement the testing for the same. It is a great challenge to write/create complex test frameworks and develop tools for ZDLRA, Backup/Recovery, RMAN & Flashback and add automated tests to be part of functional testing suites due to the complexity of the architecture. There is a tremendous opportunity to grow within the organization while working on these critical features. There is a huge scope of innovation that you can bring to the table as we continue to innovate more features and functionalities to these products. We need to develop many complex new tools/frameworks from scratch.

The opening is for someone who is passionate about learning and utilizing core CS, Operating Systems, Network, and Storage level concepts to solve complex computing challenges of modern era. It is an individual contributor position, though, at a later point you may have a small team depending on the complexity of the features you work on. In this position, you will be working very closely with the feature development team to develop a test plan/infrastructure needed for the feature. You will also be reviewing the feature specifications (Functional & Design spec) before it is finalized as your inputs from a customer perspective might be important in the implementation.

Minimum Qualifications
* BS/MS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
* Ability to automate tasks using Java, Python, Perl, bash, and Selenium
* Strong knowledge of Oracle database, Storage, and Linux fundamentals.
* Knowledge of network fundamentals such as VCN, Ethernet, RoCE, TCP/IP, routing, DHCP etc.
* Experience automating management of Linux based infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with build automation, continuous integration, or continuous deployment tools
* Experience with containerization technologies and modern tools such as Docker, Github, Jira, Swagger, Teamcity, and Bitbucket
* Working experience with ZDLRA, Backup/Recovery and RMAN
