SQL Database Administrator

Position Summary - SQL Administrator will be responsible for maintenance, and optimization of SQL database systems. You will work closely with IT teams, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure that SQL databases are efficient, secure, and available for critical business operations.

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a SQL Database Administrator.
Strong knowledge of SQL Server and MySQL.
Proficiency in SQL query optimization and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with database security and compliance standards.
Experience in database backup and recovery procedures.
Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Proficient in English.
 

Responsibilities

Database Maintenance and Optimization:
 

Monitor SQL database performance and identify areas for improvement.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as backups, updates, and indexing.
Optimize SQL queries and database structures for improved performance.

Data Security:

Maintain database security measures, including user access controls, encryption, and auditing.
Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.

Backup and Recovery:

Maintain backup and recovery strategies to protect data against loss or corruption.
Test and execute database recovery procedures in the event of system failures.
High Availability and Disaster Recovery:

Manage high availability solutions, such as failover clustering or database mirroring.

Performance Monitoring and Tuning:

Monitor SQL database performance using tools and queries.
Identify and address performance bottlenecks, optimize SQL queries, and ensure system stability.

Database Documentation:

Maintain comprehensive documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Ensure knowledge transfer to team members and stakeholders.

Collaboration and Support:

Collaborate closely with IT teams, developers, and other stakeholders to support database-related needs.
Provide technical assistance and guidance to resolve database-related issues.
