Typical Day in the Role
• Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is supporting engineering and customer support through reactive ticketing.
• Key projects: This role will contribute to the resolution of incident-based support tickets that have been submitted by the customer.
• Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 90% ticketing support, 10% ad hoc and meetings.

• Years of Experience Required: 3+ overall years of experience in the field.
• Degrees or certifications required: No degree is required to be eligible for this role, but it is preferred to have a relevant degree.
• Disqualifiers: Candidates with a majority of their experience in developer work, has poor communication skills, has not worked in a customer facing support role, or are missing any of the required technologies will not be eligible for the role.
• Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain multiple years of experience with support engineering, troubleshooting, and is well articulated both on paper and in person.
• Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on quality of work and ticketing metrics.
Hard Skills Assessments
• Expected Dates that Hard Skills Assessments will be scheduled: April.
• Hard Skills Assessment Process: The assessment process will include 2 rounds, 1st phone screen will be technical assessment, then will have a second round with a manager.
• Required Candidate Preparation: Candidates should have examples and talking points of skillset of the required technologies prepared prior to the assessment.
Summary:
The main function of a Support Engineer is to provide technical assistance to computer system users. A typical Support Engineer is responsible for answering questions or resolving computer problems for clients in person, via telephone or from a remote location.
Job Responsibilities:
• Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems, typically of a lower complexity
• May install software or perform hardware testing remotely
• Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors
• Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities
• Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration experience in SQL Server 2008R2/2008/2012/2014/2016.
• Installed SQL Server 2005/2008/2008R2/2012/2014/2016/2017 on new 32-bit and x64-bit Operating System.
• Experience in Migrating from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2012 and from SQL Server 2012 to SQL Server 2014/2016.
• Experience in upgrading SQL server software to new versions and applying service packs and patches.
• Proficient with SQL Management Studio, Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, rescheduling jobs with SQL Server.
• Creating DB Maintenance plans, rebuild/reorganize indexes & performing integrity checks.
• Highly proficient in database Backup, Restore, Recovery, Linked servers, and Database Maintenance Plans.
• Experience with High Availability and Disaster Recoveries like Replication, Log Shipping, Mirroring, and Clustering.
• Proficient in implementing different types of Replication Models like Snapshot, Transactional, and Merge.
• Experience in Implementing Always On in SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017.
• Experience in Implementing Database Mirroring in SQL server 2005/2008/2008R2.
• Involved in Installing, Configuring, and Maintaining of Cluster in SQL Server 2008R2 and SQL Server 2012 in Active/Passive.
• Auditing database configuration and security configurations.
• Actively involved in System Performance by tuning SQL queries and stored procedures by using SQL Profiler, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, Windows performance monitor, DMVs, Resource Governor, Data collection Reports, crystal reports, DBCC and Custom Script, Built-in performance Report and Activity Monitor.
• Experience with Database Backup and Restore.
• Customer management and teaming skills, supporting customers on phone and written correspondence regarding technical questions and issues
