Our client (Banking Industry) is seeking to add a motivated and experienced Database Administrator to our Site Reliability Engineering team. This role will support the availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning of critical FNBA systems, with an emphasis on our data-focused systems. The Database Administrator will possess exceptional problem solving skills, with the ability to work independently while exercising good judgement when approaching unfamiliar problems and knowing when to ask for help. Interested candidates should be excited by the opportunity to work within a team, be passionate about building automation, prioritize infrastructure as code, testing changes thoroughly, and to minimize manual production changes to systems.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize site reliability, security, and transparency
- Methodically work to improve automation and tooling for all aspects of the SDLC including business analysis, prioritization, development, testing, deployment, change management, and provisioning of needed resources to support FNBA business departments, users, and customers
- Participate in resolving production incidents when necessary
- Work to identify and effectively communicate ideas for improvement
- Troubleshoot user or system issues as assigned
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, including installation, configuration, and best practices
- Ability to automate common Microsoft SQL Server administration tasks, including backups, integrity checks, statistic updates, index maintenance, and monitoring
- Ability to make software design recommendations for application code that interacts with our database systems, especially when it comes to identifying and communicating advantages and tradeoffs associated with different design choices
- Familiarity with the security model in Microsoft SQL Server, and a sense of ownership over the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data
