Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of SQL Server DBAs in ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security of critical databases.
Implement, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across various environments (production, development, testing).
Develop and maintain database backup and recovery strategies, minimizing data loss and downtime.
Perform regular database maintenance tasks (index management, query optimization, performance tuning).
Proactively identify and resolve database performance issues and bottlenecks.
Automate routine database tasks using scripting languages (T-SQL, PowerShell).
Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders on database usage and optimization.
Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive DR plan for SQL Server environments.
Design, test, and document DR procedures for various disaster scenarios.
Ensure data replication and synchronization across DR sites.
Conduct regular DR drills to validate plan effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
Manage PeopleSoft application deployments on SQL Server.
Configure and maintain PeopleSoft security and access controls.
Perform backups and recoveries of PeopleSoft databases.
Troubleshoot PeopleSoft application issues related to the database tier.
Document all database administration processes and procedures.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs.
Maintain a strong understanding of database security principles and implement appropriate controls.
Requirements
8-10 years of experience in SQL Server administration.
Proven experience in leading and managing a team of DBAs.
In-depth knowledge of Transact-SQL (T-SQL) programming.
Strong understanding of database security best practices (access control, encryption).
Experience with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions for SQL Server (clustering, mirroring, log shipping).
Experience with database performance monitoring and optimization tools.
Familiarity with automation scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell) preferred.
Microsoft SQL Server certifications (MCSA, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics) preferred.
Experience with PeopleSoft administration a strong plus.
